WHICH JEKYLL & HIDE ACCESSORY WOULD YOU TAKE TO SPACE?
Poet, philanthropist and astronaut in training, Hussain Manawer uses the spoken word to campaign on issues from mental health to climate change, writing poetry for the “betterment of human life.” Hussain will become the first British Muslim to go to space after winning a competition, beating thousands of entrants from over 90 countries at the One Young World Summit.
Dubbed with the ‘Rising Star’ title, watch his breath-taking performance:
Since then, Hussain has gone on to set a Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Mental Health Lesson.’ He has also been invited to share the stage with renowned celebrities such as Ellie Goulding, Oscar winning actress Cher and Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau. Hussain used the platform he was given to help alleviate the stigma that exists around mental health and has been recognised and praised by HRH Prince Charles and Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan who had requested him to curate a poem to launch the Night Tube in London.
From an invitation from NASA to influential campaigns with Unilever and Pearson Education, Hussain now takes on Google HQ, Dublin to speak about wisdom and wellness to 2000 of their employees. Awareness is just the beginning for Hussain, he actively journeys to trauma-stricken areas to provide help and support and is constantly coming up with creative ways of helping people.
